Seahawks reuite with former 2nd round pick Marquise Blair, signed on Friday

Reunion in the Emerald City! The Seattle Seahawks announced on Twitter late Friday morning they will be bringing back a familiar face. Defensive back Marquise Blair, who was the No. 47 overall selection in the 2019 NFL draft, is returning to Seattle. The Seahawks signed the former Utah Ute after passing a physical with them this week.

Taken in the second round, Blair provided some boom back to Seattle’s secondary. His best year with the Seahawks was his rookie campaign in 2019, where he played in 14 games – of which he started three of them. He recorded 32 tackles and forced two fumbles.

Unfortunately, he only ever played in eight more games for Seattle in his final two years with the team. Knee njuries took their tole on the young man, and he was eventually released during the 2022 offseason.

Blair found a temporary home with the Carolina Panthers, but only played in three games. His 2023 was lost due to an Achilles tear.

Now, he returns to the team that drafted him for a second stint. Clearly, he is healthy enough to perform at a level that warrants a shot at a potential second opportunity. He will likely be thrown into the mix to see if he can provide legitimate safety depth following the departures of Quandre Diggs and Jamal Adams.
