New Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh is obviously no longer at the helm of Michigan, where he beat rival Ohio State three times when Ryan Day was coaching the Buckeyes.
But two things are possible when you look at the speech and message he delivered to the Chargers as they start camp: either he likes to use the same metaphor over and over, or he just enjoys trolling Ryan Day even though Harbaugh is now an NFL coach.
Back in 2021, Harbaugh said this, perhaps pointing to Day: “Sometimes people stand on third base and think they hit a triple.”
Now, it’s 2024 and he told the Chargers: “None here were born on third base but rather had to work their way to first, then second, then third … we are all now on third base, together, poised to bring it home.”
Hmmmmm …
Harbaugh refuses to call out any of the bulletin board material said. But does say: “Sometimes people stand on third base and think they hit a triple.” pic.twitter.com/D6n7Mr2dzN
