ESPN snubs Folsom Field in ranking of top 25 college football stadiums

ESPN didn’t give Folsom Field much respect in its preseason ranking of college football’s best stadiums

With a majestic backdrop and over 100 years of history, Colorado’s Folsom Field has long been one of college football’s most appreciated venues.

ESPN, however, apparently disagrees. In a preseason ranking of college football’s top 25 stadiums published by ESPN on Thursday, the Buffs’ longtime home was noticeably absent.

Folsom Field and BYU’s LaVell Edwards both received 21 votes (30th-most) in the poll, which included 14 ESPN college football writers. Ahead of Folsom in the “others receiving votes” category were Boise State’s Albertsons Stadium (24), Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium (31), the Cotton Bowl (35) and Idaho’s P1FCU Kibbie Dome (36).

Surprisingly, the Big 12 didn’t have any stadiums crack the top 25, meaning Folsom Field was tied for second-best in the conference. Utah’s Rice-Eccles Stadium (17 votes), West Virginia’s Milan Puskar Stadium (16) and Oklahoma State’s Boone Pickens Stadium (14) were close behind.

With head coach Deion Sanders bringing more eyeballs to Boulder, perhaps Folsom Field, a destination venue for many fans across the country, can receive more respect in future rankings.
