57 days till the Cardinals’ season opener

Undrafted rookie DL Myles Murphy is the current No. 57 but the last impactful No. 57 was LB Josh Bynes in 2017-2018.

It is Saturday and we are a day closer to the start of the NFL regular season. The Arizona Cardinals open training camp in 10 days and they will play their season opener on the road in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills in 57 days.

No. 57 on the roster right now is undrafted rookie defensive lineman Myles Murphy. He has not yet made any impact on the field and he is most likely not going to make the roster and will spend this season on the practice squad.

Who was the last impactful player for the Cardinals to wear No. 57?

That was linebacker Josh Bynes.

Bynes played two seasons for the Cardinals in 2017-2018. He played mostly special teams in 2017 but was a starter in 2018 in Steve Wilks’ defense. While the year was quite forgettable, Bynes was one of the only bright spots.

In 11 games, he had 75 tackles, two sacks and five pass breakups.

It was a bit of a surprise when he was not re-signed, but considering how bad the whole roster was, a complete changeover was understandable.

We will be back tomorrow with another countdown post for 56 days.
