We’ve got 57 days to go until the New Orleans Saints kick off their 2024 regular season, and our Saints Play of the Day comes from another season opener: Taysom Hill’s 57-yard scamper against the Atlanta Falcons back in 2022.
The Saints only needed one yard from Hill on third down from their own 32-yard line, but he gave them 57, flipping the field and setting up Jameis Winston and the New Orleans offense at Atlanta’s 11-yard line. Winston’s pass fell incomplete but Hill rumbled into the end zone on the next play for the Saints’ first score of the afternoon.
Hill’s contributions proved to be pivotal. The Falcons opened the fourth quarter with a 26-10 lead but Winston rallied the offense to a furious late-game comeback, throwing two touchdown passes to Michael Thomas and linking up with Chris Olave on a crucial two-point conversion. Wil Lutz nailed a 51-yard field goal in the final minute and the Saints won 27-26.
