A former Seattle Seahawk has found himself a new NFL home. It was announced Thursday morning safety Jamal Adams has agreed to terms with the Tennessee Titans. After three seasons with the Seahawks, Adams is returning to the AFC, albeit this time in the south.
Adams was cut by the Seahawks in early March, alongside fellow safety Quandre Diggs. The Titans themselves announced Adams’ arrival to the Music City via their Twitter account.

The Seahawks had been open to bringing back Adams, but as I wrote, it was never a strong possibility. As mentioned in ESPN’s Brady Henderson’s tweet above, the Seahawks did have interest in potentially bringing Adams back, but in a different role. However, it is most likely for the best for both sides this possibility – however slight it might have been – is now officially off the table.
Adams is a uniquely gifted player, but he was a square peg and Seattle was trying to fit him into a round hole. The Seahawks never could quite figure out a way to maximize his talents, which were closer to a pass rusher/linebacker type instead of a pure safety. He is now another player in an increasingly long line of enigmatic players, alongside Percy Harvin and Jimmy Graham, where Seattle was unable to make the most out of him.
Unfortunately, injuries helped define Adams’ tenure in Seattle. He set an NFL record with 9.5 sacks – the most by a defensive back in a single season – but never brought down another quarterback as a Seahawk. He missed the entirety of the 2022 season, and struggled to stay on the field even last year.
Now, Adams looks to restart his career in Nashville. Since the Seahawks are not slated to play the Titans this year, 12’s will not get a chance to see Adams play against them.
