Five-star linebacker Riley Pettijohn chooses Ohio State over USC

USC loses again, this time to a Big Ten opponent.

Riley Pettijohn, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound linebacker from McKinney High School in McKinney, Texas, has selected Ohio State over USC. He is the No. 4 linebacker in the 247Sports Composite, No. 9 in Texas, and No. 31 nationally.

His father, Duke Pettijohn, was an two-time All-Big East selection at Syracuse where he played defensive lineman from 1997-2000.

Pettijohn is fast, athletic and feels comfortable dropping into coverage as a dual-sport athlete who participated in track and field events in high school.

Pettijohn unofficially visited USC in early April and officially visited the Trojans on June 7.

Buckeyes Wire has more on this story:

Ohio State football landed one of its top remaining targets on Saturday morning, when Texas 2025 5-star linebacker, Riley Pettijohn, committed to the Buckeyes.

It’s a huge win for Ohio State, with it beating out TexasUSC, and Texas A&M for the 6-foot, 2-inch, 215-pound star. Pettijohn is the third verbal pledge for the unit, one that has commits from two of the top players in the country, with Tarvos Alford.
