No. 1 national seed Tennessee returned to action on Friday in the NCAA Tournament. The Vols defeated Evansville, 11-6, at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
Chris Stamos started for Tennessee and pitched 1.1 innings. He allowed two earned runs and two hits, while striking out three. Stamos totaled 27 pitches, including, 16 strikes, against six batters.
AJ Causey (13-3) relieved Stamos and pitched 4.2 innings, totaling 82 pitches (53 strikes) against 22 batters. He recorded eight strikeouts.
The Vols’ offense produced nine hits, including home runs by Billy Amick, Blake Burke, Hunter Ensley and Christian Moore.
