When NFL teams make trades involving draft picks, how do they decide the value to be placed on each selection during such negotiations?
There are plenty of versions of the famous “trade value chart,” but the basic idea assigns a point value to each selection in the draft, which theoretically gives teams a framework for discussions. Obviously, there are a ton of variables that can impact those values and negotiations, but the various charts can be a useful starting point.
