It was a good weekend for two former Longhorns in the NFL.
The Denver Broncos re-signed safety P.J. Locke to a two-year $7 million contract. The move likely makes Locke one of Denver’s two starting safeties for the 2024 season.
As a fill-in starter in 2023, Locke recorded 33 tackles, two forced fumbles, one interception and five passes defended.
Houston Texans cornerback Kris Boyd also found job security this weekend. The Texans re-signed Boyd to a one-year contract. The terms of the deal have not been released at this time.
Boyd signed with Houston’s practice squad in October and was promoted to the active roster in December. Although he played on special teams in Week 16 and a few defensive snaps in Week 17, Boyd didn’t record a tackle.
Over four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, Boyd tallied 95 tackles.
