What is the worst-case scenario for the Raiders during NFL Draft?

The Raiders are sitting pretty well heading into the 2024 NFL Draft. Picking at No. 13, they are guaranteed to get a quality player at a position of need.

This is one of the strongest draft classes in recent memory and the Raiders should get an elite talent with their top pick.

But what is the worst-case scenario for the Raiders in Round 1 and during the draft as a whole? Pro Football Focus asked and answered that question in an article posted on Friday:

The Raiders are in a tough spot in this draft — they have a need at the quarterback position but are sitting behind multiple teams that will likely draft one.

The two teams directly in front of the Raiders at No. 13 overall — the Vikings at No. 11 and the Broncos at No. 12 — are in the market for a new quarterback. That might mean that Las Vegas instead waits until Round 2 or Round 3 for a player like Spencer Rattler, but the team will also want to take another shot at the position this draft.

The Raiders have to address the franchise quarterback position; otherwise, nothing else matters. In a conference with Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert, and C.J. Stroud, they need a quarterback who can compete with those passers.

We know that the Raiders have been discussing moving up in Round 1, but no deal has been struck yet. And if one doesn’t happen before the draft, it’s unlikely that they will be leaving it with their franchise quarterback.
