We’re three weeks into the college baseball season, and it’s been a nice start for the defending national champion LSU Tigers.
They’re 12-1 on the year and coming off a 4-0 week that featured a road win against Rice and a 3-0 showing at the Astros Foundation Classic in Houston, headlined by a ranked win over Texas.
While the Tigers have looked as good as anyone so far this season, they’re still pushing for the top spot in On3’s national power rankings. They’re holding firm this week at No. 2 behind Wake Forest.
Here’s what On3’s Jonathan Wagner said about the Tigers.
It was a very impressive week for the defending national champions. LSU picked up weekend wins over Texas, Louisiana and Texas State, all quality teams. The Tigers then took on an upset-hungry Southeastern Louisiana team in a midweek battle, and required a comeback to win 4-3. Despite the scare, it was a great week for the Tigers. LSU holds firm near the top of our college baseball power rankings.
LSU won its midweek game against Southeastern Louisiana on the road Wednesday night and is now gearing up for the final weekend series before SEC play as Xavier comes to Alex Box Stadium for a three-game set.
