The New England Patriots are believed to be potential suitors for free-agent running back Saquon Barkley, according to New York Daily News’ Pat Leonard.
Barkley is coming off a productive season with the Giants in 2023. He tallied 247 carries for 962 yards and six touchdowns. He is two years removed from a 1,000-yard season. Over the course of his six-year career, the former NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year has tallied 5,211 yards in total.
Barkley was drafted by the Giants with the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. The Penn State product made the Pro Bowl in 2018 and 2021.
Sources view the Baltimore Ravens, Las Vegas Raiders, Chicago Bears, New England Patriots, Houston Texans & Philadelphia Eagles as some primary potential suitors who have the resources, need & interest to possibly sign Saquon Barkley. Stay tuned! https://t.co/OHcXVUDytZ

Barkley would bring a physical style to the New England running back room. Ezekiel Elliott is also an unrestricted free agent. So Barkley could have the opportunity to take his place.
Depending on the cost, he could be a low-risk, high-reward signing.
