Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James achieved history on Saturday night at home against the Denver Nuggets.
On a routine layup, James became the first NBA player to ever reach 40,000 points in their career.
After topping Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time NBA scoring record last February, the Lakers legend wound up setting an entirely new threshold for scoring excellence a little more than a year later.
While this latest milestone probably won’t settle any James vs. Michael Jordan debates about who is the greatest of all time, it’s hard not to feel amazed by what James has accomplished in his prolific career.

You can bet that NBA fans were stunned by this incredible accomplishment, including Lakers great Magic Johnson.
I love that I’m here tonight, I got to see when LeBron broke Kareem’s record, and the fact I was the one who passed it to Kareem when he originally set the record! Now we need the Lakers to pull out a victory to make the night even bigger and better for LeBron!
