Notre Dame football offers Georgia two-way athlete

The Irish offer an under the radar prospect

Notre Dame football has done a great job over the recent recruiting cycles finding diamonds in the rough.

Soon-to-be first round draft pick Joe Alt was a tight end in high school, and was quickly able to make the transition to offensive tackle. He was ranked as the No. 400 prospect in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, which clearly was a miss on their end, but a massive hit for the Irish.

Another potential diamond is Georgia’s [autotag]Dalen Penson[/autotag], who was offered a scholarship by Notre Dame on Wednesday evening. The 5-foot, 11-inch and 165-pound athlete isn’t currently ranked by any major service.

That doesn’t mean he can’t be a productive player at the collegiate level, he very well could be. Although the recruiting ranking might not be impressive, the Irish staff has earned the trust on evaluating prospects.
