Auburn baseball kicked off the 2024 season with a bang by sweeping Eastern Kentucky on opening weekend.
There were many notable performances over the weekend, but [autotag]Carson Myers[/autotag] had arguably the best opening weekend start in the SEC. The UAB transfer struck out eight batters while allowing two hits and one walk in six innings of work in Auburn’s 9-1 Sunday win over the Colonels.
His performance caught the eye of national outlets, including D1Baseball. The publication included Myers in its top 100 pitchers of opening weekend list. While the list was not done in ranking style, Myers was listed as No. 12 on the list compiled by the D1Baseball staff.
Myers was one of eight pitchers from the SEC to make the cut in this week’s slate, joining the likes of Mississippi State’s Khal Stephen, Texas A&M‘s Ryan Prager, and LSU‘s Luke Holman.
Myers was also tabbed SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week for his efforts in Sunday’s win. His six innings of work was the longest in a season-debut since Casey Mize’s six-inning effort in 2018.
