Bills’ Terrel Bernard explains injury after season ends vs. Chiefs

A good and bad update:

The Bills lost to the Chiefs in the AFC divisional round. Their season is over.

Linebacker Terrel Bernard had nothing to do with that. The 27-24 final did not feature Bernard.

Bernard sustained an ankle injury against the Steelers a week ago. He was carted off the field because of it and did not return. The issue kept him off the field against the Chiefs, too.

With the season over, Bernard revealed to reporters in the Bills locker after the contest what had happened.

Initial reports indicated that there were no broken bones in Bernard’s ankle. However, he told The Athletic that it “popped out,” meaning a likely dislocation.

Even with that grim update, Bernard went on to say something positive. Had the Bills won, he said would have played against the Ravens in the AFC championship according to the Buffalo News.

Bernard is no doctor. Players are often overly positive, but who knows. There is a chance he could have been back but we’ll never know now.

If it’s true that Bernard could have suited up, that is a bit of a good and bummer of an update.

Bernard will now get further evaluations on his foot as the Bills’ 2023 season comes to its close.

Bills Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the offseason.
