Five-star decision: Mikayla Blakes is set to announce with Rutgers basketball in her final seven

Mikayla Blakes is set to announce on Monday.

Mikayla Blakes, a five-star guard, will make her college commitment on Monday with Rutgers women’s basketball very much in the mix.

Ranked the No. 10 player in the class of 2024 by ESPN, Blakes is the highest-ranked recruit in New Jersey. She has a top seven that includes Indiana, Rutgers, Stanford, Tennessee, UCLA, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin.

The Rutgers Prep (Somerset, New Jersey) standout is averaging 20.8 points per game along with 3.1 assists through 11 games played. Her ability to drive to the basket and score is impressive, but she also can post-up and has versatility with a good jump shot.

She is also an outstanding defender.

Blakes will make her commitment on Monday afternoon at her school.

Earlier this month, Rutgers landed a commitment from Kiyomi McMiller, a 5-foot-9 point guard from New Jersey.

Also ranked a five-star by ESPN, McMiller is the No. 22 player in the nation.

Were Blakes to commit to Rutgers, it would give Coquese Washington a truly elite backcourt for her rebuilding project. Only six other teams halve multiple players in the top 25 of the ESPN rankings (South Carolina, UConn, Duke, Texas, USC and Michigan).
