Texas HC Steve Sarkisian’s update indicates he’s staying put in Austin

Steve Sarkisian posted on social media “it’s a great day to be a Longhorn.”

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian appears to be happy where he is right now. The school he currently coaches for is in Austin, Texas.

Sarkisian gave social media a glimpse into his feelings of the program in a post late on Thursday night. He shared the following on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

“It’s a great day to be a Longhorn!!” – Steve Sarkisian

His wife Loreal posted, “TEXAS,” around that time which Sarkisian would repost on social media.

What all does that mean? It can mean a handful of things. The most likely suggestion is Sarkisian is letting fans know he intends to stay, and might have already inked a big contract. It would explain the enthusiasm and indicate the program is committed to the Sarkisian era over the next few years.

Detractors perhaps would suggest he is simply trying to drive up the price for Alabama, but that’s a silly suggestion. The Tide’s most realistic hope is to drive up Sarkisian’s salary number and make Texas expend money since they are unlikely to win a bidding war with the Longhorns.

For now, it looks like Sarkisian is staying put in Austin. We will continue to bring coverage of his contract extension status and Alabama’s head coaching search.
