Spurs’ Devin Vassell breaks down partnership with Victor Wembanyama

San Antonio Spurs star Devin Vassell recently spoke about his blossoming partnership with Victor Wembanyama.

When the San Antonio Spurs picked Victor Wembanyama with the first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, they knew they had a franchise centerpiece on their hands. And with him in place, their next gameplan needs to be putting a top-tier roster around Wembanyama to help him compete at the highest level.

Luckily for the Spurs, they have a great wing talent already on the roster. Devin Vassell has been putting together a great season after signing an extension this summer. He and Wembanyama have a chance to do some special things in San Antonio, and while they may not be winning much this year, they’re developing important chemistry.

Vassell recently spoke about the partnership he’s forming with Wembanyama.

“I feel like I have been finding him more off rolls and he has been looking for me,” Vassell said via Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News. “We just got to feed off each other.”

As the season goes on, their chemistry will only continue to improve.

“It’s a work in progress,” Vassell said. “We are both trying to figure each other out. It’s still our first season playing together. I feel like it has been getting better and better each game. We just have to keep working on it.”

With Vassell and Wembanyama on the roster, the Spurs have one of the best young duos in the league. It hasn’t translated to the win column just yet, but that’s okay.

Everything in San Antonio is still in the early stages, but as the two stars continue to grow, the wins will start coming in.
