NFL fans couldn’t believe Trevor Lawrence missed a wide-open Calvin Ridley with playoff hopes on the line

Awful way to end your season.

Just a few weeks ago, the Jacksonville Jaguars were solidly in the middle of the AFC playoff race and even had an outside chance at the top seed. But after a 1-5 finish to the season, the Jaguars find themselves entirely out of the playoffs.

And one play, in particular, is going to make for a long offseason for Trevor Lawrence.

After going down 15 points in the second half, the Jaguars rallied to get within eight points of the Titans. Jacksonville had a goal-line opportunity stopped on fourth down. Yet, the Jaguars still had another shot to get within a two-point try of tying the game. Lawrence just happened to lead Calvin Ridley by a bit too much.

With two minutes to go on second down, Ridley somehow broke completely free for what would have been a walk-in touchdown. The pass was slightly overthrown, and that ended up being the difference in the game. The ball went off Ridley’s fingertips — though it would have been a difficult catch for the Jaguars receiver.

Still, the Jaguars had two more opportunities to continue the drive, but they saw their season end on a pair of incompletions off poor passes from Lawrence.

No wonder NFL fans were not kind to the Jaguars quarterback after that display.
