Cardinals’ win over Eagles costs them 2 spots in NFL draft

The Cardinals held the No. 2 pick entering Week 17. After a win, it drops to No. 4.

The Arizona Cardinals picked up a fun and exciting win on Sunday, a 35-31 road win over the Philadelphia Eagles. It was their fourth win of the season and third since Kyler Murray returned from his knee injury.

The win came with a price.

They entered the week projected to have the second pick in the 2024 draft as the only three-win team in the league, just ahead of the Washington Commanders and New England Patriots.

The Patriots and Commanders both lost on Sunday, giving them a three-way tie with the Cardinals with four wins.

But the tiebreaker for the NFL draft order is strength of schedule. The strength of schedule for both the Patriots and Commanders is .515, while the Cardinals’ is .567.

As a result, the Cardinals have the last pick of the three teams.

If the season ended today, they would have the fourth pick.
