Boston Celtics come back to beat Pistons as Detroit ties longest losing streak in NBA history

The Pistons are also much better than their record would suggest.

The lowly Detroit Pistons, determined to avoid a historic 28th straight loss which would equal the longest losing streak in NBA history (even one spanning multiple seasons), took the Boston Celtics to overtime at TD Garden on this past Thursday night.

However, despite their valiant effort to avoid carving themselves out a spot in the record books for all of the wrong reasons, the Celtics would emerge victorious with a 128-122 win secured in the extra period. That star Boston forward Jayson Tatum had one of the worst shooting nights of the season certainly did not help things much for the Celtics, but the Pistons are also much better than their record would suggest.

To discuss and recap this intense game for the “Garden Report” podcast, CLNS Media’s Bobby Manning welcomed Mike Curtis, the Pistons beat writer for The Detroit News.
