One thing that we’ve learned about Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks staff is that they are not shy about playing young players.
“If you’re good enough, you’re old enough.”
It’s a saying that Dan Lanning has uttered dozens of times since taking over in Eugene, and he proved that last year, with the trio of true freshmen edge rushers — Matayo Uiagalelei, Teitum Tuioti, and Blake Purchase — serving as valued members of the rotation all year long. We also saw guys like Iapani Laloulu, Cole Martin, and Kenyon Sadiq get some valuable run as well.
On Sunday, we looked at the 8 players of Oregon’s historic 2024 class and tried to identify which freshmen would have the biggest impact this upcoming season. On3 was of a similar mind, as they named their most instant-impact candidates from the 2024 class this past weekend as well.
Oregon 4-star safety Aaron Flowers was a member of that list.

Here’s what On3’s Cody Bellaire had to say about Flowers:
Aaron Flowers had one of the stronger senior seasons among defensive back prospects in the 2024 cycle. The Forney (Texas) High product picked off seven passes this fall. Flowers proved to be a defensive weapon who can make plays at every level of the field. At Oregon, he could provide a boost that could would further strengthen Dan Lanning’s defense. The Ducks also lose their two starting safeties in Evan Williams and Steve Stephens IV to the NFL Draft as well as two rotational defensive backs in Trikweze Bridges and Daymon David being on their way out. There should more than enough snaps for the taking for Aaron Flowers. We could see Flowers potentially carving out a role for himself early on as a freshman and continue to see his snaps increase as the season rolls along.
As mentioned, the Ducks are in need of some help at the safety position this offseason. They already added former Kansas State star Kobe Savage via the transfer portal, and could potentially look to add other players at the position as well.
Regardless, though, it appears that Flowers is someone who could come in and have an impact on the secondary right away.
