Andy Reid: WR Rashee Rice ‘getting better’ amid Chiefs’ losing streak

#Chiefs head coach Andy Reid says wide receiver Rashee Rice has been “getting better” during Kansas City’s losing streak.

The last two losses for the Kansas City Chiefs have dropped their hopes for a first-round bye in the postseason and put their lead in the AFC West at risk with four games left to play. The controversy and criticism surrounding the team over the last few days have clouded the view of a significant bright spot on the team.

Chiefs rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice has improved weekly with additional playing time, scoring touchdowns in two out of the last three games and securing seven catches or more in the previous three contests.

He has immediately emerged as the top receiving option next to Travis Kelce for Mahomes, who often targets him when he’s on the field. Rice’s success isn’t lost on his head coach, who praised his progress during Wednesday’s press conference.

“He’s getting better. He’s getting better,” said Reid. “That’s one of the positives you can take out of the game really the last few weeks. So every opportunity he gets, he’s making progress.”

Rice leads all Chiefs wide receivers with 59 receptions for 663 yards and continues to prove Mahomes’ suspicions about him back in the offseason that he has the potential to be a top receiver in the league.
