A Detroit Wingstop promotion has completely backfired amid the Pistons’ 21-game losing streak

The Pistons just won’t allow Wingstop to give away free food.

The Detroit Pistons are on a franchise-record 21-game losing streak, and one restaurant chain is saving a ton of money as a result.

Select Wingstops in Detroit are offering customers five free boneless wings as part of a promotion for when the Pistons win, and they haven’t been able to come up off those wings because “Pistons win” has become quite the oxymoron — two words that absolutely do not go together. The Pistons haven’t won since Oct. 28.

Wingstop is doing the only winning in Detroit.

Even with whatever money the Pistons got from this deal, they couldn’t buy a win right now. They’re just the eighth franchise in NBA history with a losing streak of at least 20 games, and their next game is on the road Friday against the Philadelphia 76ers, who just beat them Wednesday.

I don’t know when exactly this promotion started, but the Pistons began adding a Wingstop logo to their final score graphics on Nov. 27. And that logo has hilariously been creeping slowly away from the final score with each passing game. It might be out the frame after Friday.

It’s too late to back out now, Pistons. Hurry up and feed the people.
