Chiefs’ Andy Reid admits WR Kadarius Toney did not check in before lining up offside

KC apology tour continues:

Emotions clearly got the best of the Chiefs on Sunday, especially their head coach and quarterback.

By the early days of the ensuing week following their 20-17 loss to the Bills, both Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes have admitted some wrongs in the way they reacted to the final score.

Mahomes, at least, issued a slight public apology to Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Reid went on to say that, upon further review, he realizes receiver Kadarius Toney did commit the penalty that was called.

Prior to that, Reid called what happened “embarrassing” for the NFL.

The infraction took a wild play off the scoreboard. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce lateraled the ball across the field to Toney and he scored… but the flag for offside long been thrown.

Reid noted: “So listen, normally he looks over to the sideline and just gets an ‘OK.’ Um… on that one he just happened not to.”
