Unfortunately, the writing has been on the wall for a few hours, a few days, a few weeks — and a few years, if we’re being completely honest. On Sunday morning, Oregon Ducks quarterback Ty Thompson announced he would enter the transfer portal and end his time in Eugene.
After three seasons with the team, Thompson saw yet another transfer portal QB brought in over the weekend and jump him on the depth chart. That move led to his decision to find a program that will give him a shot at the QB1 spot.
The relationship between Oregon fans and Thompson is a strong one. While there weren’t a ton of opportunities for No. 13 to showcase his skills on the field, it was the loyalty he put on display year after year that endeared him to Duck fans. He chose to stick it out in Eugene and opted for hard work over an easier path elsewhere. When the news became official that Thompson was leaving Eugene, Duck fans expressed an outpouring of love and appreciation on social media for what he gave to the program.
