It has not been a great time for Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott when games go to overtime.
It hadn’t started out like that, but that’s how it has unfolded.
The Bills (6-6) fell to the Philadelphia Eagles 37-34 in Week 12… in overtime. That defeat sent McDermott to an unfortunate place in NFL history.
According to ESPN, McDermott now is tied for the worst-ever record as a head coach with a minimum of 81 games played. He’s now 1-6 in overtime during his career in Buffalo:
Sean McDermott is 1-6 in OT games, including playoffs, as a HC. That is tied with Dom Capers for worst record by a HC in NFL history with a minimum of 7 OT games coached, per @ESPNStatsInfo.
81 coaches have coached at least 7 OT games including playoffs. https://t.co/JFUZvQabeH

This could bring up one question. Where is the win?
Nope, Josh Allen was not the quarterback of the Bills at the time. It wasn’t even an actual QB.
Buffalo defeated the Indianapolis Colts in overtime in 2017. The way the game unfolded, injury forced McDermott’s hand. The quarterback was Joe Webb, former Bills receiver, the last time McDermott won in overtime.
