NFL fans crushed Steelers WR Diontae Johnson’s poor effort after he blatantly gave up on a play

Players can get cut for this.

The past week hasn’t been the best display for Steelers receiver Diontae Johnson, and he really hasn’t done much to help his own cause.

It was reported on Saturday that the Steelers receiver had to be separated in the locker room from safety Minkah Fitzpatrick in a heated argument. But Sunday’s game against the Bengals was an opportunity for Johnson to move on from the tumultuous week.

Instead, he had himself a dreadful start.

The ugly sequence started in the first quarter when Johnson dropped an easy touchdown pass on second down.

The following play, Johnson — visibly frustrated — just stood there and refused to block. Steelers running back Jaylen Warren fumbled on the play, and instead of making an effort to recover the ball, Johnson walked away slowly from the play.

The Bengals recovered, and NFL fans were not pleased with Johnson’s effort there. That just can’t happen. Players have been cut for less.
