Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins has received a fine for his actions during a dust up on the field against the Jets in Week 11.
Dawkins was dinged $10,927 for his unnecessary roughness penalty in the fourth quarter of the 32-6 win for the Bills. The play involved Jets defensive lineman Micheal Clemons being on the receiving end.
After Dawkins took the penalty, there was some further action involving Clemons but Dawkins ended up rolling on the ground and getting up and signally to the crowd at Highmark Stadium to end the sequence. That probably didn’t help Dawkins’ case to not be fined.
While Dawkins was fined for on-field antics, he was not for the off-field ones he was involved in. Neither was Clemons.
In the tunnel at Highmark Stadium, the two got into a tussle again after the game as they were heading to the locker room. No punishment came down from the NFL that.
However, two other Jets players were fined in the contest.
Jets tight end Jeremy Ruckert was fined $6,370 for making helmet-first contact with Bills cornerback Dane Jackson to his head.
Jackson has been ruled out of the Bills’ upcoming matchup with the Eagles after having the leave last week’s game due to that hit. He has not yet cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol.
Along with Ruckert, Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner was dinged $10,927 for his unnecessary roughness penalty in the third quarter on a hit to Bills receiver Stefon Diggs. It was a late play which saw Gardner suplex or toss Diggs to the ground.
The NFL routinely announcing fines that have been handed out for actions during game’s over the ensuing weekend. The league passed down these three from Bills vs. Jets on Saturday.
