Klay Thompson has hilarious reaction to snapping scoring slump

The Golden State Warriors veteran gave a hilarious response when asked whether he’s happy to have had his first 20-point game of the season.

Klay Thompson broke his shooting slump during the Golden State Warriors’ win over the Houston Rockets on Monday (Nov. 20.) The veteran wing has struggled for consistency on the offensive end to begin the season, earning himself relentless criticism and questions regarding his long-term future with the franchise.

When speaking to the media following his high-scoring game, Thompson had a hilarious reaction when asked about having his first 20-point night of the season. Thompson noted that his expectations are higher than 20 points and that he’s previously scored more than that in a single quarter.

“It feels good but I’ve scored more points in a quarter than I did tonight,” Thompson said. “It’s gonna happen. Big nights are gonna happen. It’s just about letting go, having fun out there, and playing the right way.”

Thompson’s contract situation has likely played a part in the questions surrounding his scoring struggles and potential future in the Bay Area. The four-time champion will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2024 and is likely playing to earn an extension with the franchise he’s been with for his entire career.

Now that Thompson has enjoyed a high-scoring game for the first time this season, the hope will be that he can push on and find some rhythm and consistency so that he can ease the scoring burden that Steph Curry has been carrying over the first few weeks.
