Dan Mullen suggests one underperforming coach should be on the hot seat

The former Florida and Mississippi State coach shared a tweet after this coach lost a rivalry game for his fifth loss in six games.

Former Florida and Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen, now working as an ESPN analyst, shared his thoughts on a current college coach’s job security on Saturday.

UCLA entered the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum amid rumors the school wanted to fire head coach Chip Kelly after the game and left with a 38-20 victory over USC. In the middle of the Trojans’ fifth loss in six games, Mullen had this to say on Twitter.

Riley, now in his second season with USC, won 17 of his first 20 games with the Trojans, including an 11-win season and a conference title game appearance. His 2023 season has gone off the rails, however, with five losses and a 2-point victory over California in the last six games. The Bruins were the first unranked loss of the season for USC.

Reigning Heisman champion Caleb Williams, the presumed top pick in the NFL Draft, won’t be around next season either. Could the Lincoln Riley tenure continue on this dangerous trajectory?
