The Buffalo Bills have quite the jarring 2023 season.
In fact, it’s the first of its kind in over four decades of NFL football.
NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal bring us the exact measurement of how different this season of Bills football has been.
Currently at a 5-5 overall record, Buffalo does not have a winning record. Despite that, the team has a point differential of plus-78. That seems pretty good, right?
That’s because it is.
Rosenthal backs up how random it is for the Bills to not have a winning record with this stat: Buffalo is the first NFL team since the 1981 Atlanta Falcons to not have a record above .500 after 10 games with a point differential of at least plus-75:

The Bills will hope their decision to fire offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and promote Joe Brady to the role will help moving forward. While some might use this as a metric to prove why firing Dorsey was the wrong idea, it’s important to keep in mind that the NFL in 1981 and now were two very different leagues.
Having said that, like the Bills, the Falcons were 5-5 in 1981.
Not to dampen any spirits, the Falcons finish that season 7-9 overall and did not make the postseason.
