Here’s some small good news: New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr hopes to return after the team’s Week 11 bye after exiting Sunday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings with a right shoulder injury and concussion, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill reports that the “initial belief” is that Carr avoided a serious injury to his throwing shoulder (which suffered an AC joint sprain earlier this season), but he’ll undergo further testing to confirm.
So if all goes as expected it’ll still be Carr leading the offense when the Saints regroup after their bye week and begin preparing for Week 12’s matchup with the Atlanta Falcons. That’s the message Dennis Allen shared after the Vikings game, squashing any speculation that the Saints could consider making a change to Jameis Winston. When everyone is healthy, Carr will remain on top of the depth chart.
