A former Nebraska basketball coach has announced his retirement. Butler Athletic Director Barry Collier will leave his position on April 30, 2024.

Collier has been connected to the Bulldogs program for 31 years as a player, coach, and athletic director. He became Butler’s head coach in 1989 and stayed until he left for Nebraska following the 1999-2000 season.

The Florida native would coach the Cornhuskers from 2000-2006. During that time, he would compile a record of 89-91 overall and a Big 12 mark of 36-60.

Collier would not make the NCAA tournament while at Nebraska and would qualify for the NIT only twice. After six seasons, he would leave the Huskers to return to Butler as vice president and director of athletics.
