Auburn cracks top-60 of USA TODAY Sports’ re-rank following win at Vanderbilt

Albeit small steps, the Tigers are making positive strides in this week’s rankings by USA TODAY Sports’ Paul Myerberg.

Auburn continues to make positive strives after picking up its second consecutive win.

In this week’s USA TODAY Sports’ re-rank, Paul Myerberg has given the Tigers a boost to No. 59, which cracks the top 60 and is a three-spot increase from last week’s rankings. Auburn is one spot below Georgia Tech, who climbed eight places after blowing out Virginia last Saturday. Auburn is also one spot above Iowa State, which dropped three places after sustaining a 28-21 defeat at home to Kansas.

Auburn’s next opponent, Arkansas, moves up three places to No. 89 after upsetting Florida in the Swamp, the program’s first win in Gainesville. Based on Myerberg’s latest rankings, the Tigers should have no issue with Arkansas this weekend and should see a boost in next week’s rankings.

Outside of Arkansas, the Tigers’ final two opponents are ranked ahead of them. New Mexico State earned bowl eligibility by defeating Middle Tennessee State last Saturday and was awarded a 13-spot bump to No. 55. Alabama jumped one place to No. 8 after defeating LSU in Tuscaloosa.
