The Buffalo Bills have signed defensive tackle Linval Joseph, adding him to their D-line rotation.
The team announced the transaction on Wednesday.
Joseph, 35, takes cornerback Kaiir Elam’s place on the roster. The former 2022 first-round pick of the Bills (5-3) was placed on injured reserve.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Joseph has signed a contract worth up to $3.72 million for the remainder of the year. The wording appears to point toward his contract being incentive based.
Joseph is known as the type of defensive tackle the Bills had recently lost. Buffalo’s DaQuan Jones ended up on injured reserve due to a pectoral injury. Jones and Joseph both provide an ability to take up space in the middle of a defensive line, eating up blockers so others can produce.
Joseph was originally a second-round pick of the New York Giants back in 2010. He won Super Bowl XLVI with the franchise.
In addition to the Giants, Joseph has played for the Minnesota Vikings (2014-2019), Los Angeles Chargers (2020-2021) and Philadelphia Eagles.
His tenure with the Eagles was in 2022 and similar to his upcoming one in Buffalo. He signed with the Eagles midway through last season and eventually suited up for the team in last year’s Super Bowl.
Bills Wire will continue to provide all updates regarding the team’s roster throughout the 2023 season.
