Tennessee junior point guard Zakai Zeigler has been named to the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year preseason watch list by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
The award is named in honor of former Holy Cross and Boston Celtics guard for the top point guard in NCAA Division I men’s college basketball.
Zeigler is one of 20 players named to the watch list, determined by a national panel of top college basketball personnel.
Zeigler earned 2022-23 All-SEC second-team honors and was one of 10 semifinalists for Naismith Defensive Player of the Year.
He averaged 10.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.0 assists per game, helping lead the Vols to a 25-11 (11-7 SEC) record. Tennessee reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament last season.
