Linebacker Juwan Mitchell, who was leading the Buffaloes in total tackles heading into their Oct. 7 game at Arizona State, hasn’t seen the field since for an unspecified reason.
After Colorado’s loss to Stanford on Friday, head coach Deion Sanders confirmed Mitchell was still with the team. But when asked if Mitchell was injured, Coach Prime replied, “Ask him what happened.”
Sanders’ response suggests Mitchell’s absence may be a disciplinary issue. In early August, Mitchell was dismissed from Arizona State’s program following an incident at practice. He joined the Buffs about two weeks later and made his debut on Sept. 9 against Nebraska.
Last Wednesday, Colorado linebackers coach Andre’ Hart said it was a coach’s decision for Brendan Gant to play over Mitchell at ASU.
Mitchell’s college career has also included stops at Butler Community College, Texas and Tennessee.
🦬 @DeionSanders on whether or not ILB Juwan Mitchell is still on the team. Prime says yes but we should ask him what happened and why he’s not playing.
