USC has a loaded roster entering this basketball season. However, there is one noticeable hole in the roster, as Kevin Sweeney of Sports Illustrated told us in a preseason conversation:
“What’s unique about it is they (USC) really don’t have a traditional power forward, and part of that is to lose Tre White to the portal,” Sweeney told us. “He was really in my mind, looking back now, a perfect fit for this team because he’s got a little bit of skill offensively, but can play hard, can rebound, can play the three and the four. If you’re looking at this roster and say, what’s the one missing piece, you say it’s a 6-7 guy, you can play either forward spot and impact the game defensively. You do not necessarily need his number called a ton offensively. That’s Tre White. Because of that, you get into some interesting scenarios. Are you going to play very small with potentially (Isaiah) Collier, (Boogie) Ellis, Kobe Johnson, and then (D.J.) Rodman, or are you going to play two traditional bigs with Vince (Iwuchukwu) and Josh Morgan?”
Not having Tre White will create some complications for Andy Enfield as he seeks the best lineup combinations for USC basketball this season.
