The Ohio State Buckeyes remain the top team in the Big Ten according to ESPN’s FPI but their odds of winning the conference and making the College Football Playoff have shrunk since last week, losing six percentage points in each while enjoying their bye week.
The Michigan Wolverines, fresh off a 45-7 win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers, their most impressive win of the season saw quite the increase in their odds of winning the conference and making the College Football Playoffs. After having just a 9.8% chance to win the conference last week and an 11.6% chance to make the CFP, Michigan’s odds have increased to a 16.4% chance to win the Big Ten and a 20.7% chance to make the CFP this week.
Penn State remains the No. 2 team in the Big Ten according to ESPN’s FPI with a 26.1% chance to win the conference, a slight decrease from last week. Their odds of making the playoffs also decreased slightly from 33.7% to 32.1%.
The FPI rankings will surely see a huge shift in the upcoming weeks as Penn State and Ohio State are just two weeks away from a top-10 showdown in Columbus on October 21.
Over in the Big Ten West, ESPN’s FPI continues to like the Wisconsin Badgers to win their division with a 65.6% chance to do so and a 10.7% chance to win the Big Ten. Iowa remains in the conversation with a 24.7% chance to win the West and a 2.8% chance to win the conference as a whole.
