Bills’ Sean McDermott: Dane Jackson has been a ‘great example’ this season

Buffalo Bills cornerback Dane Jackson has had to go through an adjustment going into his fourth season in the league after coming into the NFL as the 239th overall pick (seventh round) in the 2020 NFL Draft.

After starting in 14 of 15 games played last season, Jackson has gone from consistently being on the field to coming on the field to give Tre’Davious White or Christian Benford some rest this season.

Now, with White out for the rest of 2023 due to an Achilles injury, Buffalo’s cornerback room will be short-handed in its pursuit of a Super Bowl. However, that opens up opportunities for someone like Jackson who has made plays when he has been on the field in the past.

There has been no indication from head coach Sean McDermott on who out of Jackson and Kaiir Elam, Buffalo’s first-round pick from the 2022 draft, will be starting in place of White on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, McDermott was asked earlier this week about what he’s seen from Jackson since the beginning of this season and he gave Jackson his flowers.

“Great example of controlling the things you (Jackson) can control and taking all your concerns and putting them in another bucket and letting those go but, focusing on what you can control, what’s right in front of you,” McDermott said.
