The New York Giants are 1-3 to start the 2023 regular season and if not for a miracle comeback against the Arizona Cardinals, they’d be 0-4.
In 14 of the 16 quarters they’ve played this season, the Giants have been downright humiliated. They haven’t resembled a professional football team and don’t look like they belong on the same field as the others.
On Monday night, they were embarrassed on prime-time once again, this time getting the snot kicked out of them courtesy of the Seattle Seahawks.
There are countless numbers and statistics that shine light on just how poorly the Giants played — like allowing 14 QB hits and 11 sacks — but there’s no need to rehash any of that. You all saw it.
So, what’s next for Big Blue? More of the same, apparently.
Asked after the game if he intends on making any changes to the coaching staff or switching up personnel, Giants head coach Brian Daboll made it clear that they are staying the course.
“No,” Daboll said bluntly when asked if any changes were coming.
“When you’re in this position, you have to tell it like it is and you’ve got to move on and get ready for the next week again. Last week has nothing to do with this week. You can’t focus on stuff that happened in the past. You’ve got to learn from them and obviously do better. We’ve got to play better and coach better on game day. That’s what we need to do to.”
Daboll’s postgame comments are beginning to sound a lot like the broken record that was Joe Judge. Instead of, “We’ve got to watch the film” we get, “We’ve got to play better” instead.
Since Daboll likes to “tell it how it is,” here’s how it really is: Staff and personnel changes are necessary because doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity.
