Third-string quarterback Will Grier took the practice field on Friday for the first time with the New England Patriots.
Grier spent the first part of the year on the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad before being signed by New England to the main roster on Thursday afternoon.
He was initially drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft, and he was released in 2021 after the team traded for Sam Darnold, He has also played for the Dallas Cowboys from 2021-2022. In four years in the NFL, he has four total starts with 228 passing yards and four interceptions.
He’ll be serving as the No. 3 option behind Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe against the Jets.

New England has been busy over the past couple of weeks trying to add depth to the quarterback room. They will look to secure their first win of the season against the New York Jets on Sunday.
