The Arizona Cardinals have suffered another big bow to their defense. Starting defensive lineman L.J. Collier and starting safety Budda Baker already have landed on injured reserve.
Defensive lineman Carlos Watkins, who replaced Collier in the starting lineup, will join them.
He suffered a biceps injury on Sunday and, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon, will need surgery. He will be out indefinitely, which means we can expect to see him placed on injured reserve this week, meaning he will miss playing the team he played for the last two seasons.
Collier is also out indefinitely after biceps surgery. It is unlikely either will return this season.
Baker will return but must miss at least the next four games.
Watkins is the Cardinals’ most accomplished and veteran defensive lineman. Watkins has seven tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss, a quarterback hit and a tipped pass in two games.
Watkins, in his seventh season, signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals in the offseason.
