Compared to the season opener, Josh Allen had a much better performance in Week 2 for the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills topped the Las Vegas Raiders, 38-10, for their first win of the season. That came after a shocking loss to the New York Jets in Week 1.
Buffalo lost that game to backup quarterback Zach Wilson after starter Aaron Rodgers left with an Achilles injury on New York’s first series. A big factor in the loss was a turnover-filled game from Allen, who gave the ball four times to New York.
A cleaner effort came against Las Vegas. Allen went a crisp 31-for-37 passing and did not commit a turnover.
“The discipline was present really with the whole team,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said via video conference. “Particularly Josh, when he does that, when he’s willing to take what they give him and take those checkdowns and then use his legs as well in a decisive way, he makes it really hard to defend.”
Allen noted that he does put a positive spin on poor performances. Bad games keep him grounded, he said.
“The thing is with this game, man, it gives you the lowest lows, it gives you the highest highs,” Allen said. “I loved feeling like I felt last week. I really do. ‘Cause it makes the good feel that much better.”
