Kerby Joseph and C.J. Gardner-Johnson both leave with injuries

Lions safeties Kerby Joseph and C.J. Gardner-Johnson both leave from the opening drive against the Seahawks with injuries

Injuries are quickly becoming the early story of the game between the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks. The Lions saw both starting safeties leave the field with injuries during Seattle’s opening drive.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson came off the field favoring his shoulder. He walked off on his own but quickly sought treatment with trainers on the Lions bench. He was back on the field for the subsequent drive.

Kerby Joseph quickly left the field on a cart after heading to the sideline following a collision with Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf. It didn’t appear to be a leg injury for Joseph. He was initially listed as questionable to return.

Defensive tackle Alim McNeill also left for a portion of Seattle’s scoring drive. Like Gardner-Johnson, he returned on the next drive.

The Seahawks scored a touchdown with the Lions fielding a safety tandem of Tracy Walker and Ifeatu Melifonwu.
