Can Armoni Brooks break into the Brooklyn Nets’ rotation?

Brooklyn Nets guard Armoni Brooks signed a Two-Way contract with the team after playing well in summer league. Can he earn playing time?

Brooklyn Nets guard Armoni Brooks has been trying to find his way in the NBA ever since he came into the league as an undrafted free-agent after the 2019 NBA Draft. Brooks, after performing well in the 2023 NBA2K24 Summer League, earned a Two-Way deal from Brooklyn to give himself a chance of being apart of a team looking to get back to the playoffs.

One of the topics to ponder with training camp a few weeks away is how likely Brooks is to break into the rotation for the 2023-24 season. Brooks, 25, comes into camp as one of the better shooters on the team and given how much shooting the Nets have lost this summer, he could find that the team needs his shooting at some point during the season.

One of the main obstacles in Brooks’ way to playing time is the amount of guards on the team already. The starting lineup will most likely be Ben Simmons/Spencer Dinwiddie, Mikal Bridges, and Cam Johnson while players coming off the bench will probably be players like Cam Thomas and Dennis Smith Jr.

Brooks has some skills that can be useful to Brooklyn, but it depends on how well he can shoot the ball early on so that he isn’t relegated to just playing in the G League for most of the season. If this past summer league is any indication, Brooks should be ready to contribute to a team with playoff aspirations.
