Matthew Stafford non-committal about being on Netflix’s ‘Quarterback’ series

After a report surfaced Wednesday indicating Matthew Stafford will be on Netflix’s “Quarterback” series, Stafford himself was non-committal.

Matthew Stafford had the opportunity to be on Season 1 of Netflix’s “Quarterback” series but he turned them down, opting not to appear on it. He does seem open to the possibility of starring in Season 2, however.

A report by Jake Ellenbogen surfaced on Wednesday saying Stafford will be on the second season of the show. However, when asked about that possibility during his press conference, Stafford was non-committal on the matter – though he did say he’s had talks with Netflix about it.

“To be honest with you, I’ve had discussions with those guys,” Stafford said. “I’m not sure there is going to be a season. I’m not sure there isn’t. I’m not sure. I’m just more focused on the San Francisco 49ers, to be honest with you, than anything going on off the field so I’ll just leave it at that, I guess.”

Stafford was asked a follow-up about whether he’d be on board with appearing on Season 2 of the show if it happens, and he simply said, “Possibly.”

Even if Stafford has committed to being on the show, he probably can’t confirm it publicly for one reason or another. The fact that he didn’t completely shut it down or deny the report indicates there’s a good chance he’ll be on Season 2.

The first season was a big hit with Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota starring in it, but Netflix has seemingly had trouble finding three more quarterbacks to do the show.
